SCOTTISH SENIORS GOLFING SOCIETY
THE "FOUNDING FATHERS" OF THE SOCIETY

On the 2nd Nov 2006 at Stirling Golf Club an idea that had been in the mind of former Scottish Amateur Internationalist Gordon MacDonald and others came into fruition.

The objective of the Society was to provide a series of competitive tournaments for Senior Amateur golfers over the age of 50.

The actual numbers of golfers who attended that first “meeting” is unknown but from their number the first Captain and Committee were formed, comprising:

  • Captain: Gordon MacDonald (Callander)
  • Vice-Captain: Keith Howie (West Kilbride)
  • Joint Secretary/Treasurer: Jim & Peter Kinloch (Cardross)
  • East Area Rep: Ian Hutcheon (Monifieth)
  • Central Area: David Smith (Stirling)
  • South Area: George Rodaks (Moffat)
  • North Area: Jonny Johnston (Royal Aberdeen)

Thanks to their foresight the Society was born and has continued to grow since that day.
