Competition & Order of Merit Changes
As advised previously, we have removed the restrictions on members aged under 55 in relation to ALL our competitions with immediate effect.
At the same time, we have decided to amend the closing date of the OOM competition, to coincide with selection date of the International Teams, i.e. after the R&A British Seniors Open. Any SSGS held after that date will count toward the following year’s OOM, in effect making it a “wrap around” OOM. Therefore the 2019 OOM will conclude after the British Open, with this year’s Autumn Meeting being the 1st event in the 2019/20 OOM. As a result of this change, the Finals Day has been cancelled as it no longer has any relevance to the final OOM positions.
We are also looking at the distribution of OOM points allocated to the various events, to recognise the differing levels of Competition. This will therefore rank the British Open as generating most OOM points, followed by the SGL Scottish Seniors Open, and then our own SSGS events. The final points allocation is being finalised and will be published in the near future. If you have any queries regarding this in the meantime, then please contact Ian Kerr by email at email@example.com
We have added a new competition this year to the schedule and Order of Merit. Our president, Gordon MacDonald has kindly donated a trophy for the winner of the main event, and our Honorary Members, Jim & Peter Kinloch have done likewise for the Super Seniors. The date of the inaugural tournament is Thursday & Friday 23/24th May at Blairgowrie Golf Club.
The main difference between the Presidents Cup and our other events, is around the ballot rules in the event of the competition being oversubscribed. If more than 141 entries are received, then preference initially will be given to those players who scored points in the main OOM, and the top 40 from the Super Seniors OOM in 2018. Thereafter normal ballot rules will apply based on handicap as at closing date.
All entry forms are now available on our website. https://www.scottishseniorsgolf.com/competitions/entry-forms
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible during 2019 at our various events.
