Angus pipped Perth & Kinross to win the Senior Area Team championship at Forfar today.  Heavy rain yesterday meant that the course was playing long and preferred lies were in operation. The format is a six man team with the best five gross scores counting towards the team total.  In the event of a tie, as happened today, the sixth score is used to determine a winner.

Both teams had excellent scores and at the end of the day Jim Watt's 75 clinched victory for Angus, with Perth & Kinross' non-counting score being a 78 from Craig Hay.

Angus scores - Graham Bell (Downfield) 68, Maurice Lindsay (Broughty) 70, Alan Kennedy (Carnoustie) 70, Gary Tough (Edzell) 72, Keith Bruce (Edzell) 74, Jim Watt (Edzell) 75.

Perth & Kinross - Tom McLevy (Blairgowrie) 69, David Shields (Glenearn) 70, Norman Dyce (Strathmore) 71, Stuart McKendrick (Dunkeld & Birnam) 71, David Logie (Craigie Hill) 73, Craig Hay (Blairgowrie) 78.

Fife were third with a team total of 363.

Other scores -

368 - Lothians

373 - South

374 - Stirlingshire

375 - North East

386 - Dunbartonshire

394 - Argyll & Bute.
