With 4 out of 8 of this years events cancelled the SSGS winter events Order of Merit went to 3 counting events out of 4 with the final event at Prestwick St Cuthbert last a Friday.
This led to the closest finish we have had with 4 points covering the top 3 players. The winner was Neish Chisholm who is the most enthusiastic and well travelled member of the Society , Neish had a consistent season with 3 top 5 finishes in the counting events well done Neish.
In 2nd place 1.6 points behind was Drew Wilson (St Andrews New) who pipped Prestwick St Cuthbert winner Kevin McCarthur (St Andrews) by 2.2 points in fourth place was Ian McKerron (The Grange).

The final Scottish Seniors Golf Society Winter Event went ahead at a breezy Prestwick St Cuthbert today.
The course was in excellent condition and the greens cut making them good to putt on.
The breeze made scoring difficult with pars and birdies hard to get.
The result was close with Kevin McCarthur (St Andrews) 37points piping Neish Chisholm (Kemnay), Keith Ross (Glasgow), Alex Hogg (Stirling), Stuart Drysdale (Leven Golf Society) and Donnie Lindsay (Barrassie) all with 36 points.
Kevin’s back 9 score of 20 points being the best of the day clinching him the win, although it may have been better as he had a no score at the 308 yd 10th hole.

At last an SSGS winter event went ahead at West Kilbride after 3 cancellations.
West Kilbride was in excellent condition and all who played enjoyed, although a cold breeze made scoring difficult and par was a good score.
The winner was Ian McKerron (Grange) with 39 points piping local Brian Aiken (West Kilbride) 37 points Ian had a best of the day 20 points on the back 9. Brian’s 37 points was a great score considering he did not score a point at the par 4 5th hole.
In 3rd place was Drew Wilson (New Club St Andrews) with 36 points having consistent halves of 19 and 17.
We move to Monifieth Links for our 3rd of 5 events next week.
