SPANISH SENIORS FESTIVAL 2016
Nick Robson (Meldrum House) retains his SSGS title in Spain on 10-under par.
After 3 days of very pleasant conditions at the Hacienda Del Alamo resort Aberdeenshire businessman Nick Robson easily retained his SSGS Spanish Festival title (sponsored by McCrea Financial Services) thanks mainly to a fantastic 6-under par 66 in his second round to go along with rounds of 69 and 71. His 10-under par total of 206 was six ahead of his nearest challenger.
In second place with a creditable 4-under total of 212 was former champion Ian Brotherston (Dumfries and County) followed by Duncan Hamilton (Mortonhall), Gordon Hay (Boat of Garden) and David Shields (Glenearn), all 8 strokes further back on 220.
In the handicap event, Nick also came out on top with a net 209, however as only one prize can be won, the net prize went jointly to Graham Haugh and David Marshall (both Glasgow Gailes) with net 214.
The Doubles competition was won by the Dumfries & County pairing of Ian Brotherston & Ian Fraser with a gross total of 141, closely followed in joint second by the Glasgow Gailes pairing of Graham Haugh and David Marshall and the Glenbervie pairing of Gordon Macdonald and Rob Craw on 142.
In the Handicap pairs, Graham & David emerged winers with a net 135. In joint second were 3 pairings of George Barrie & Robert Gordon, Alex Hogg & Denis McQuade and Stephen Connelly and Alan Harrington on 136.
