SSGS exists to answer a demand for high level competition amongst the over 50s. This age group is the largest currently playing. Most clubs profiling their adult memberships recently have found averages ages to be between 55 and 60. Competitive opportunity outside the home club has often been limited to 18 hole seniors opens. These can be great fun but hardly stretch the nerve ends in the way experienced by our silver slammers in their peak years.

Our 36 hole opens, each held over two days, manage to combine that missing adrenalin surge with a great deal of cameraderie as players catch up with each other, often after an absence of 20+ years.

This page lets you see the operating structure of the Society and how the members can interact with the Committee and Office Bearers.

Members are represented by committee members drawn from the main Scottish geographic regions- North, East, Central, West and South.

Tournaments from Spring 2009 have been administered by our husband and wife team Bill and Dorothy Crighton.  Bill was previously Secretary of Banchory Golf Club. He and Dorothy are fully familiar with scoring and handicapping software and have brought  a highly professional approach to the running of our events.
