....now for 2012. The programme continues to evolve according to experience and the wishes of our members. The main concerns about over-subscription and the frequent need to ballot have been largely overcome through a combination of additional events and a lowering of the handicap threshhold for new members. We shall continue to monitor.
Bill and Dorothy have been a real catch for the Society and their relaxed efficient manner makes tournament administration seem much more straightforward than it actually is.
Diaries at the ready. 2012 Fixtures have been firmed up by Captain George Rodaks. We think most members will agree that our selection of courses will test the best but not intimidate the rest. The table below can be printed off to serve as a reminder/record.
Our five regional opens remain in place as the core of our fixture list. The Spring meeting provides a good season opener in May and we are more than delighted to announce that Montrose Golf Links Limited is prepared to host the event for next year and hopefully beyond.
Powfoot and the new April date were a real success last year and we hope for the bright sunshine amd warmth again.. They kindly agreed to this after a date change for the British Seniors looked like causing fixture congestion. North moves to a three year stint at Cruden Bay. As you were for West and Central at Lanark, Glenbervie respectively. East moves to Forfar G C for the first time.
The Tullibardine Doubles was held over the Glen and the format was very much enjoyed by all competitors. We go back to the Glen for year three, and propose to relax the rule of one member, one guest although this will continue to be encouraged..
Highlight for many is the Super Seniors held thsi coming year at Nairn Dunbar. Sandy Pirie will be looking to win the trophy that bears his name(65 and over) for the third year running and likewise Duncan McCallum with the 70+ Cup. This should again attract a field of good quality and fine vintage and will be open to non members if not filled by the membership.
We hope to gain a greater level of commitment to the Inter County and shall be working hard to achieve that through all channels. It is an excellent event and we would be very happy if all associations followed the lead of enlightened counties such as Lothians, Dumbarton, Glasgow and Perth and Kinross.Dunfermline will host in 2011 and South will defend..
Details of the next Spanish sojourn will appear once decisions havew been reached on venues dates etc. .
Captain George Rodaks and Committee wish you a succeesful and enjoyable series.
