SSGS was represented at the Northern Counties Championship by members Brian Christie and Glyn Rees. Both finished well up the leaderboard and in fact Brian came close to adding the title to the Yorkshire Championship he won a few weeks ago. His efforts have been rewarded with representative honours for the county. Brian scratches his head wondering why the English form does not seem to travel over the border. That may well change with his impending move North.
2010 Spanish Seniors- Golf Villaitana Nr Benidorm Feb 5th to 7th SSGS was represented in this event by Robert Gill, Gordon MacDonald, Ally Fiddes, Adrian Donkersley, Glyn Rees, Donnie McCart, John Johnston, Colin Moir, Norman Cameron, Sandy Pirie, Basil Griffiths and Iain Stewart. Returning tourists report some competitors needing counselling after thre days on greens which were wickedly quick and with some significant slopes. "Like putting across the bonnet of a Beetle" was one quote. The event was won by Bjorn Ronning at 5 over par with Spaniards occupying the next three places. Best of our boys were Gordon MacDonald and Robert Gill tied 7th (+11) Ally Fiddes and Adrian Donkersley were equal 15th with Adrian having had the best second round of the tournament with a two under 70 followed closely by Ally's fine 71. 2010 Danish Seniors- The Danish Seniors is a popular and growing event held this year over Kokkodal G.C. 30 miles from Copenhagen for entry details please visit the following link:
