SSGS Order of Merit 2010  The Final Table

Finals day produced its usual fascinating climax to the Order of Merit with four players all in contention for the top honour at the start of play. Long time leader Scott Macdonald was suffering from a virus and not really in a position to cope with the demands of the tough Landsdowne track. Scott had therefore to depend on others taking enough points from his fellow contenders if he was to hold on to his lead. As it worked out the ever consistent Tony Stafford was up to the task and his carefully crafted 73 was good enough for 61 points and tne 2010 crown.

 Counting Events

The events on the schedule below will count towards the SSGS Seniors Order of Merit.

Events fall into three categories: Category 1, Category 2 and Category 3 Match Play

Category 1:        Scottish Seniors Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship,British Seniors Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship

Category 2:        Seniors Spring Open, South of Scotland Seniors Open,  Central Scotland Seniors Open, North of Scotland Seniors Open, West of Scotland Seniors Open, East of Scotland Seniors Open,  SGU Seniors Order of Merit Finals Day

 Eligible players will receive points relative to their final position in a nominated event. In the event of a play-off or card countback to determine the winner of an event the eventual winner will receive 1^st place points and other players in the play-off or card countback will be deemed to have finished tied for 2^nd place and receive points accordingly.

 Final Placings

(a)        All points collected by a player will form an aggregate and this total will determine his final placing in the SSGS Seniors Order of Merit.

(b)        Prizes will be awarded to the top three in the final SSGS Seniors Order of Merit table and will be presented at the annual SGU Dinner.

(c)        In the event of a tie for leading places in the SSGS Seniors Order of Merit, prizes will be shared.

 Qualification

To be eligible for inclusion in the SSGS Seniors Order of Merit, a player must:

(a)                 Be male at birth and be of amateur status as defined by R&A Rules Limited.

(b)               Be over 50 years at 00.01 hours on 1 January of the current year.

(c)                 Be a subscribed member of the Scottish Seniors Golfing Society

(d)                 Have played in the minimum number of qualifying events as currently determined by SSGS (currently four)
