SSGS Operates as far as is possible as a low cost organisation. There are no plans to set up permanent offices or take on full time employees.

Entry fees for competitions are absorbed between course retainers and prizes. There is of course some administrative cost and this is covered by the cost of your annual membership fee, currently £25 per annum. If you would like to pay by Standing order please download a form here

We believe that people working for the organisation should not be out of pocket and there are outlays for travel, subsistence and accommodation earmarked for administrators.

What do you get for your subscription?

  • You have access to a functional website carrying results, news, fixtures, draws, and updated order of Merit tables pretty well as soon as they happen.
  • In our 36 hole Regional Opens you are able to compete on some of Scotland's finest courses, prepared to a high standard, for £12.50 per round.
  • In addition you are normally able to play a practice round for £10 per round.
  • In addition to that you are competing for a prize fund totalling £1,100 plus gold and bronze medals for the scratch and handicap winners
  • There are separate age group scratch and handicap prizes for the 60-64 and 65 and overs.
  • Our Match Play Championship entry fee of £40 entitles you to at least two qualifying rounds and the prospect of many more depending on your progress.
  • All of our individual events, plus the Scottish and British Senior Amateur Strokeplay count for points in or Order of Merit Table, administered by the Scottish Golf Union in www.scottishgolf.org .
  • For those with representative ambitions, the Order of Merit table appears to have significance in the selection process for international duty.
  • Also, members enjoying a good season can be hopeful of inclusion in their County/Area team for our annual championship.
  • Our events are fully reported in Scottish Golf View www.scottishgolfview.com
  • Scottish Golf View's editor, Colin Farquharson doubles as our "House" reporter
  • SSGS Merchandise- We have an arrangement with Glenmuir to have shirts and sweaters produced bearing the SSGS logo. This can be ordered and paid for through the Web Shop, and then collected from the check in desk at the following tournament.
  • We also have an arrangement with Didriksons, a renowned Swedish manufacturer of golf weatherwear, whereby we can offer discount of around 30% from RRP. These garments also feature in the webshop. As you would expect from a Swedish manufacturer in competition with Galvin Green they are manufactured to a very high specification at reasonable cost.
  • Your membership card entitles you to certain discount privileges from partner clubs and retailers
  • We look to secure fine accommodation rates from Hotels and B & Bs close to our various venues. These feature elsewhere in this website.

All in all we hope you will agree that SSGS membership represents great value and a chance to really get to know Scotland's best courses and locations.
